April 2017 - Press Release
Essential Islam are proud to announce Sayyid Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi as their patron.
A descendant of the final Messenger ﷺ, Sayyid Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi has travelled across the globe, advocating the spirit of traditional, Sunni Islam to Muslims and non-Muslims.
Talking about his support for Essential Islam, Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi said:
"Essential Islam is essential for Muslims"
Essential Islam are committed to the propagation and dissemination of authentic, traditional Islamic knowledge, as well as being dedicated to strengthening the local and wider communities.
Project founder, Shaykh Wajid Iqbal said:
"We are delighted to make this announcement; as an heir and exemplar of the Prophetic Way, Shakyh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi has always been an inspiration to us with decades of experience in the areas of education and spiritual mentoring. On behalf of Essential Islam, I sincerely thank the Shaykh for agreeing to become our patron, and may Allah grant us the ability to work together in serving our local, wider, and global communities."
2017 promises to be a big year for Essential Islam, with the impending release of several publications, a new website and mobile apps, and many exciting Islamic based courses.
We are working very hard on the development and design of our website and accompanying services. Keep an eye out on our social media feeds for more updates.
Essential Islam is an independent, not-for-profit organisation whose vision is defined by our slogan of ‘Ihya al-Sunnah'; which translates as ‘reviving sunnah’.
We are committed to the propagation and dissemination of authentic, traditional Islamic knowledge, as well as being dedicated to strengthening the local and wider communities by creating opportunities and tackling issues of disadvantage and exclusion.
We do not call to our own way, nor do we have our own agenda. We adhere firmly, without compromise, to the principles of the Prophetic way and the vast majority of Muslims who have maintained and revived the Sunnah for over fourteen hundred years.
We are from the Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah in belief and the followers of the great Imam, Abu Hanifa (Allah shower His Mercy upon him), in Fiqh
The key to the success and triumph of the Muslim Ummah unequivocally rests upon the study and correct understanding of sacred Islamic knowledge. Through which, we may become conscious of Allah in our hearts, precisely emulate the exemplar of the Prophet ﷺ, and follow in the footsteps of the Ulama (learned, righteous scholars).
Therefore, through reviving the tradition of learning and teaching in Islam -- where a teacher represents the spring of knowledge and the exemplar of righteousness, the continuation of the glorious past, and the embodiment of the blessing and light of an unbroken chain of transmission -– we believe the Ummah can regain its intellectual consciousness and reinstate its sense of civilisation.
